Black Princesses celebrating with fans

Ghana’s Black Princesses have booked a place in the final round of the qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after overcoming South Africa, setting up a decisive showdown against Uganda.

The Princesses progressed following a hard-fought third-round tie that was settled over two legs. After a 2–2 draw in the first encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium, coach Charles Sampson’s side traveled for the return fixture and secured a narrow but crucial 1–0 victory.

Substitute Priscilla Mensah emerged as the hero, netting the decisive goal to seal Ghana’s aggregate triumph and passage to the final phase.

Uganda also advanced with a disciplined performance across their two matches against Zambia. Their opening game ended in a 1–1 stalemate at home, leaving the contest finely balanced.

However, Uganda delivered on the road in the reverse fixture, edging Zambia 1–0 to clinch qualification to the last stage.

Ghana are aiming to maintain their impressive record at the tournament, chasing an eighth consecutive appearance since making their debut in 2010.

The final qualifying tie between Ghana and Uganda is scheduled for May, with both nations battling for one of Africa’s four available slots at the global championship.
