NPP left COCOBOD in better state than we found it – Kodua

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has defended his party’s record in the cocoa sector, insisting that the NPP left the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) in a stronger position than how they inherited it.

Kodua argued that the current cocoa pricing does not support claims that the sector is performing better than it did under the NPP administration.

COCOBOD CEO responds to Minority’s call for his removal

“Of course. At the end of the day, we were paying farmers GH₵3,100. We were not paying farmers GH₵2,500. So, how do you justify that what is happening now is better than what was happening during the NPP’s time?” he said on TV3 on February 13, 2026.

He further referenced campaign promises made by the NDC regarding cocoa prices, stating that the current figures fall short of expectations set during the election period.

“If at the end of the day, NDC were paying the farmers GH₵6,000 as they promised during their campaign message, then you can make that analysis that maybe they are doing better than the NPP, and it will be there for everybody to see,” Kodua indicated.

According to Kodua, public discourse on the cocoa sector must be guided by facts and fairness rather than partisan considerations.

He urged Ghanaians to objectively assess the situation and speak out where necessary.

‘Totally absurd’ – Kodua dismisses NDC’s cocoa sector allegations against NPP

“… I think all of us, it bestows on us, irrespective of how we analyse a political party or government, when something is wrong, let them know it is wrong,” he added.
