Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies seize nearly 60 pounds of methamphetamine during traffic stop
BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) – Investigators in Jefferson County seized nearly 60 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.
Narcotics Investigators from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, along withe SNET and the Vestavia Hills Police Department Vice and Narcotics Unit, conducted a traffic stop in the 5400 block of Park Avenue South in Bessemer on Monday, Oct. 5.
Donnarius Thomas, 37, was arrested after investigators discovered nearly 27,098 grams of methamphetamine valued at an estimated &96,000 and 34.5 grams of marijuana.
“I am pleased with this seizure of dangerous drugs,” said Jefferson CountySheriff Mark Pettway. “This was an outstanding collaborative effort by both the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Vestavia Hills Police Department. We are greater when we work together. My number one priority is the safety of the citizens of Jefferson County.”
Thomas has been charged with two counts of drug trafficking and second degree possession of marijuana.
He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $706,000 bond.
