Dirt biker rescued after suffering serious injuries in Rampart Range
According to a Facebook post from DCSAR, the team was activated to help a seriously injured dirt bike rider in the Rampart Range about 2.5 miles in from the Gramps Trailhead.
Jackson 105 and Castle Rock Fire personnel first contacted the patient and began working to stabilize their condition. Ground and ATV teams with DCSAR were deployed with a litter transport system to support treatment and evacuation.
The patient was put into an ATV litter transport and moved toward the trailhead. AirLife landed and two flight medical personnel were transported by ATV to meet the extraction team. They provided advanced medical treatment while continuing evacuation. The patient was evacuated to the landing zone, transferred to the helicopter and flown to further care.
“This was a true lifesaving team effort,” DCSAR wrote in the Facebook post. “From first patient contact through ATV extraction and helicopter transport, every agency played a vital role in getting a critically injured rider the help they urgently needed.”
Jackson 105 Fire Protection District, Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department, HCA Healthone AirLife, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and DCSAR volunteers helped during this rescue.
