WATCH: Gordon ends wait for first Barcelona goal

/ Football News / LaLiga News WATCH: Gordon ends wait for first Barcelona goal Gordon has made a fine start to life in Catalonia.

Anthony Gordon ended his wait for a first Barcelona goal as they took the lead inside two minutes against Getafe.

Gordon has made an excellent start to his Barca career since joining from Newcastle United in the summer, providing four assists, but had not found the net himself prior to Saturday’s game at Camp Nou.

The England winger enjoyed a superb international break, scoring in three of their four Nations League matches, including in a thrilling 3-2 defeat against Spain.

And his first Barcelona goal came arrived in short order upon their return to LaLiga action.

It came with a stroke of luck as Gordon let fly from the edge of the area after a fine run, his effort taking a heavy deflection and wrong footing the helpless David Soria in the Barcelona goal.

That goal did not open the floodgates, but Barca made it 2-0 on the half-hour mark, Gabriel Jesus finding the bottom-left corner after Getafe lost possession deep in their own half.

Barcelona are looking to make it eight wins from eight to start the LaLiga season, and a victory would re-establish their five-point lead at the top after Atletico Madrid beat Alaves earlier on Saturday.
