The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has sworn in the newly constituted Board of the Volta River Authority (VRA) Resettlement Trust Fund, charging members to focus on improving the welfare of communities affected by VRA projects.

At a brief ceremony, the minister urged the board to remain committed to the core mandate of the Trust, which was established to support the socio-economic development of resettled communities.

Dr Jinapor emphasised the need for the board to prioritise critical areas such as public health, education, sanitation and other essential services that directly impact the living conditions of beneficiary communities.

He noted that the Trust Fund plays a vital role in addressing the needs of people displaced by dam and energy infrastructure projects and must therefore operate with diligence, accountability and responsiveness.

The newly sworn-in board is chaired by Halid Abdul Rauf.

Other members include Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, Dominic Napare, Joycelyn Tetteh, Dr Seidu Mohammed and Ing. Samuel Fletcher.

The board is expected to provide strategic oversight and ensure effective management of resources to improve livelihoods in resettlement areas.
