Portugal suspend Cristiano Ronaldo, to serve ban up to six months

According to a report by Daily Post on Friday October 9, 2026, Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation following an alleged fallout with national team head coach Jorge Jesus, with the Portugal captain facing a possible ban of up to six months.

According to a report by the UK Mirror, the disciplinary action was triggered after the 41-year-old forward allegedly walked out of the national team camp following his reported disagreement with Jesus.

The suspension is said to have been automatically triggered under the federation’s rules. However, the final length of Ronaldo’s punishment has not yet been determined.

A disciplinary council is expected to meet to decide the duration of the ban, with the Portuguese superstar reportedly facing a suspension ranging from one to six months.

Such a punishment could have significant implications for Ronaldo, depending on when it takes effect and the competitions covered by the disciplinary decision.

Despite the reported situation, Ronaldo is said to have publicly apologised for his actions and acknowledged that he deserved to be punished.

The incident has placed the Portugal captain at the centre of fresh controversy, with attention now focused on the federation’s next steps and the outcome of the disciplinary process.

Ronaldo remains one of the most prominent figures in Portuguese football, having captained the national team for many years. Any lengthy suspension could therefore become a major talking point for the team and its supporters.

For now, the exact duration of the reported ban remains unclear. The disciplinary council’s decision will determine the extent of the punishment Ronaldo could face.

The Portuguese Football Federation’s official confirmation and further details of the case would be needed to establish the full circumstances surrounding the reported suspension.
