ADC Sends Fresh Message to Nigerians Over 2027 Polls

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has urged eligible Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections, assuring them that every vote will count.

It also warned against attempts to manipulate the election, insisting that no individual or political party would be allowed to undermine the will of the people.

The ADC-PCC made the call in a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan.

This comes as the nationwide PVC collection exercise organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) begins.

The council urged Nigerians to disregard claims that their votes would not count, describing such statements as misleading and intended to discourage eligible voters from participating in the electoral process.

“Go and collect your PVC. Your voter’s card is your power and your guarantee that you will vote on January 16, 2027,” Ologbondiyan said.

He dismissed suggestions that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would simply write election results in favour of its candidates, insisting that attempts to manipulate the 2027 general elections would not be allowed.

“The notion that votes will not count and that the APC will write results is deceitful and unattainable. Nobody will be allowed to manipulate the 2027 general election,” he stated.

Ologbondiyan alleged that the narrative about votes not counting was being promoted by agents of the ruling APC to create fear among Nigerians, encourage voter apathy and discourage people from collecting their PVCs.

According to him, the claims reflect the ruling party’s fear of rejection by voters following what he described as its poor performance in government.

“The APC knows it cannot win a free, fair and credible election after plunging Nigerians into hunger, hardship and insecurity. That is why it wants Nigerians to believe that results will be written. It is a lie. The era of writing results in hotel rooms is gone forever,” he said.

The ADC-PCC maintained that Nigerians should not allow concerns about electoral malpractice to prevent them from exercising their democratic rights.

The council also pointed to existing electoral safeguards, including the amended Electoral Act, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), as measures that have strengthened efforts to protect the integrity of elections.

Ologbondiyan added that increased political awareness among Nigerians would make it more difficult for anyone to manipulate the electoral process.

“Every polling unit will be protected. Every vote will be counted, and every vote will count. Nigerians are more determined than ever to take back their country through the ballot,” he said.

The council called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, women’s organisations and civil society organisations to help mobilise eligible voters to collect their PVCs.

It urged Nigerians to ignore messages intended to discourage them from participating in the elections and to keep their voter cards safe ahead of the polls.

The ADC-PCC further assured Nigerians that the party, under its presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, would deploy polling agents across the country to monitor the voting process and protect the votes cast by citizens.

The council said the agents would be present at polling units to observe the electoral process and prevent attempts to manipulate results or steal the people’s mandate.

POLITICS NIGERIA had earlier reported that the party is set to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council as part of efforts to coordinate its campaign ahead of the elections.

The party’s National Chairman, David Mark, is scheduled to inaugurate the council at 4 pm on Friday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Ologbondiyan, who was identified as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the national chairman, said the inauguration would formally activate the party’s presidential campaign machinery.

“The inauguration formally sets the stage for the ADC presidential campaign machinery ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he said.

The event is expected to bring together key party leaders, governorship candidates, National Assembly candidates and candidates contesting seats in state Houses of Assembly.

The council is expected to coordinate campaign activities, strengthen communication between the party’s national leadership and state chapters, and support candidates contesting elections under the ADC platform.

The party had also appointed Abia lawmaker Austin Akobundu as Director-General of the presidential campaign council as part of its preparations for the presidential contest.
