Safaricom customers with quick fingers could pocket free airtime after the telco turned its official WhatsApp Channel into a treasure hunt for vouchers.

The company announced the giveaway on its social media pages on Friday, October 9.

Vouchers have been tucked away within the channel, and the telco said the first people to spot a drop will be the ones to benefit.

The first step is to join the telco’s verified WhatsApp Channel.

Because the exercise runs on a first-come, first-served basis, those who act late risk finding the vouchers already used up.

Safaricom has not said how much airtime each voucher carries, nor how many vouchers are up for grabs.

That gap means the window could shut at any moment once supplies run out, with no advance warning to participants.

The giveaway also highlights how the telco has leaned on the channel as a direct line to its customers.

Safaricom already uses the platform to share promotions, service updates and other announcements as they happen.
