The National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to abandon plans to seek a review of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Kpandai parliamentary election.
Speaking on Channel One TV on Thursday, January 29, 2026, he cautioned that prolonged election litigation drains energies, morale, and resources, often yielding little benefit.

“I personally will have a chat with my former colleague because I’ve seen such cases sometimes drag over years, and it does not ensure any benefit. Sometimes, it’s better to let it go, reorganise, and come back another time.
“When you go through such litigation, it breaks you down. It’s a waste of resources, energy, and creates unnecessary stress. It’s not healthy for anyone. Left to me, I would tell my people that if we don’t have a strong case for a review, we should let it go,” he stated.
Vanderpuye further noted that the review process requires very strong grounds, especially given the Supreme Court’s 4–1 majority decision.

“So, I would urge them that if there were enough facts or evidence to justify asking the Supreme Court to review its decision, then fine. But otherwise, it would be a fruitless exercise. It’s not easy for the Supreme Court to review its own decision, particularly a 4–1 ruling. The process is laborious and challenging,” he added.
The NDC has expressed disappointment over the Supreme Court’s decision, which reinstated the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam.
The apex court quashed the High Court judgment that had annulled Nyindam’s election, citing a jurisdictional error. Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang was the sole dissenter.
Reacting to the verdict, the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, said the party was “grieved” by the outcome but urged supporters to remain calm.
He emphasised that the ruling does not mark the end of the party’s political journey in Kpandai.
“We are law-abiding. We urge our teeming supporters, both here in Accra and in Kpandai, to remain calm. This is not the end. There is a review option, so this matter is not over,” he noted.
