Truth Behind Video of George Ruto Buying Clothes in Ngara Street

A homegrown clothing brand in Ngara has gained some online buzz after President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto, dropped by its shop and was filmed browsing the racks.

The store, which markets itself as a Made-in-Kenya fashion label, shared the clip on Wednesday, November 4. It shows George arriving with two men and a woman, then walking up to the premises and heading inside.

According to the footage, he took his time going through the collection and tried on several outfits. Before leaving, he posed for photos with members of staff. The video does not show what, if anything, he ended up buying.

The shop was quick to show its appreciation for the high-profile guest. In its caption, it thanked him for stopping by and said it looked forward to building more meaningful connections. The store did not say how he came to visit.

The clip soon attracted comments from followers, many of whom were surprised to see him there. One user joked that the store should have asked for his number, saying they were headed to Kilgoris for a wedding and wanted to link up. Another praised the brand for its work, writing, “This is good. Killing it.”

The visit comes at a time when more young Kenyans are choosing locally made clothing over imported labels. For a small brand, having a well-known face walk through the door and try on its designs is the kind of exposure money can rarely buy.
