Njeri Maina’s DCP’S Rally Photos Raise Eyebrows After leaving Out UDA Defector Despite Sharing Stage
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has attracted attention after sharing photographs from the launch of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Youth League in Bahati, Nakuru County, without including Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja, who attended the same event.
In her social media post, Maina celebrated the party’s youth mobilisation, writing: “It’s green and it’s WANTAM! DCP youth league!” alongside green heart emojis.
She shared photographs with several DCP politicians and aspirants, including Peter Mbae, but none featured Karanja.
The omission is notable because Karanja recently left President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and joined DCP, announcing her intention to challenge Governor Susan Kihika for the Nakuru gubernatorial seat in 2027.
Maina is also a member of the committee appointed by DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua to vet politicians seeking to join the party following defections from other political formations.
Karanja’s departure from UDA was followed by her removal as Deputy Senate Majority Leader, with nominated Senator Veronica Maina taking over the position.
Despite sharing the same political platform at the Bahati event, Maina did not post a photograph with Karanja. She has not publicly explained the omission, and there is no confirmation of a disagreement between the two politicians.
Her post has nevertheless drawn attention to the political dynamics within DCP as the party expands its presence in Nakuru ahead of the 2027 elections.
