Charlene Ruto Confronts Security Officers at Her Wedding, President Ruto’s Reaction Amuses Kenyans

A video showing Charlene Ruto expressing frustration over tight security arrangements during her wedding in Tanzania has sparked reactions among Kenyans on social media.

Charlene, the daughter of President William Ruto, was captured questioning security officers who appeared to be preventing some people, including photographers and her friends, from getting close to her during the celebrations.

In the viral video, Charlene is seen walking alongside her newly married husband, Isaya Yunge, when she notices security officers maintaining a barrier around them.

The visibly concerned bride immediately intervenes, asking the officers to allow her photographers to move closer and capture memorable moments from the special occasion.

“These are our photographers, please,” Charlene is heard telling the security personnel.

She further expressed her displeasure with the restrictions, repeatedly complaining that the security arrangements were excessive.

“Security are too much… they are too much,” she remarked.

Reports indicate that Charlene was particularly unhappy because some of her friends had also been prevented from approaching her during the wedding celebrations.

Her father, President William Ruto, appeared to notice the situation and turned around to address his daughter.

However, rather than engaging in a serious confrontation with the security team, the Head of State gestured for Charlene to calm down before responding playfully, saying, “Ei wewe.”

The lighthearted exchange has attracted attention online, with many Kenyans finding the interaction amusing.

Charlene and Isaya exchanged wedding vows on Friday, November 6, at Malaika Beach Hotel in Mwanza, Tanzania, overlooking Lake Victoria.

The high-profile ceremony attracted several prominent guests, including Rwanda’s First Lady Jeannette Kagame, Mama Ida Odinga, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and several Cabinet Secretaries.

The couple reportedly enforced a strict no-phones policy during the ceremony to prevent unauthorised photography and recordings.

Charlene, 33, looked elegant in a white lace wedding gown and a flowing veil, while Isaya, a 36-year-old Tanzanian technology entrepreneur, wore a cream-coloured formal suit.

Their wedding followed a traditional Kalenjin engagement ceremony, popularly known as Koito, held in August 2026 at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.
