Whopping KSh 904,000: Ruto’s Luxury Stefano Ricci Blazer Steals Attention

President William Ruto’s outfit at Charlene’s wedding has drawn fresh attention after a Kenyan menswear shop revealed the estimated cost of the distinctive blazer he wore during the celebrations.

Ruto appeared at the November 6 wedding in Mwanza, Tanzania, in a red-and-black jacket whose elaborate patterns made it stand out among the outfits at the event.

The blazer featured intricate hieroglyphic-style designs, red velvet lapels and collar, gold buttons and decorative details around the cuffs.

The President matched it with a crisp white shirt, black bow tie and cream fedora with a maroon band. He also carried a twisted wooden walking cane.

Zannetti Gents Fashion, a Kenyan menswear retailer, attributed the design to Stefano Ricci, an Italian luxury fashion brand.

The retailer announced in a Facebook post dated Friday, November 6, that it was taking orders for the blazer after receiving what it described as overwhelming public interest.

Its stated starting price was approximately $7,000, translating to around KSh 904,000. The amount could change depending on the size and availability.

The price disclosure triggered a lively debate on social media, with Kenyans sharing jokes and questioning whether the garment justified its reported cost.

Otieno Ngoye joked that the blazer could become a national fashion trend, writing: “If everyone is asking for it, then it is gonna be the ‘Kenya uniform’.”

Evelyn Kibuchi sought clarification on the figures, while Njuguna Muya questioned what distinguished the designer blazer from an ordinary one.

Hooligan Jakogalo also joined the discussion, joking: “Next week all pastors will be wearing it.”

Meanwhile, Charlene’s wedding to Tanzanian entrepreneur Isaya Yunge continued to attract attention, with the guests’ fashion choices and the elaborate white-themed decorations featuring prominently in online discussions.
