The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has said President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term in office to consolidate the economic reforms and infrastructure development initiatives of his administration.

On his post on X on Saturday, Yilwatda stated this in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during the reception of President Tinubuโ€™s campaign train, where an enthusiastic crowd turned out to demonstrate support for the President ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He described the Tinubu-Shettima ticket as one of the most formidable political combinations in Nigeriaโ€™s history, praising the President for what he called courageous leadership and commitment to national development.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has challenged Nigerian youths to take active responsibility for building a prosperous, secure, and united country, declaring that the future of Nigeria depends largely on the quality of its education, leadership, and younger generation.

Obasanjo gave the charge while delivering the convocation lecture at the 6th Convocation Ceremony of KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, held as part of activities marking the institutionโ€™s 10th anniversary.

Speaking on the theme: โ€œThe Nigeria We Want: Education, Leadership and the Responsibility of a New Generation,โ€ the former president urged graduating students to look beyond their academic certificates and recognise their roles as contributors to national development.

ASABA โ€” Political tension heightened in Delta State on Saturday as supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), backing the presidential ambition of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, came under attack during a one-million-man march in Asaba, leaving several persons injured and campaign vehicles vandalised.

The incident, which came after a similar disruption of the movementโ€™s rally in Effurun, Delta State, reportedly involved suspected thugs armed with sticks, knives, machetes and other dangerous weapons.

The vehicles, many branded with campaign banners bearing the images of Obi, his running mate, Kwankwaso, and the NDC candidate for Delta North Senatorial District, Victor Ochei, were smashed during the attack.

Footages from the scene also showed a counter-mob assaulting some of the alleged attackers apprehended during the melee.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has dismissed suggestions that constraints in its gas transportation network are contributing to the decline in electricity generation, insisting that its pipelines remain available to deliver gas to power plants across the country.

The national oil company said its operational records did not indicate any transportation-related constraints within the network operated by its subsidiary, NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited, that could explain the current drop in power generation.

The position comes amid a disagreement over the factors behind the worsening electricity supply situation, after the Nigerian Independent System Operator attributed the decline in generation partly to limited gas availability and reduced water inflows to hydroelectric power stations.
