Price of William Ruto’s Designer Suit He Wore at Daughter’s Wedding Emerge
President William Ruto’s bold outfit at his daughter Charlene’s wedding is still drawing attention online, after a Kenyan menswear shop named the designer and put a price on the piece.
Ruto arrived in a red-and-black blazer covered in dense, hieroglyphic-style motifs. It had red velvet lapels and collar, gold buttons and decorative studs on the cuffs.
He paired it with a white dress shirt, a black bow tie, a cream fedora with a wide maroon band and a twisted wooden walking cane.
In a Facebook post on Friday, November 6, Zannetti Gents Fashion said the blazer came from Stefano Ricci, the Italian luxury fashion house known for high-end craftsmanship and daring designs.
The outlet added that it had started taking direct orders for the garment because of what it called overwhelming public interest.
Prices start at about $7,000, or roughly KSh 904,000, with the final cost depending on size and availability.
The figure set off a wave of reactions from Kenyans, many of them amused. Jeniffer Isaya wrote that Luos would not let anyone rest over the blazer, while Evelyn Kibuchi asked whether the post meant KSh or USD.
Otieno Ngoye joked that if everyone was asking for it, the blazer would become the “Kenya uniform”. Hooligan Jakogalo quipped that all pastors would be wearing it by next week.
Others were less impressed by the price tag. Njuguna Muya said people were joking too much and asked what separates this blazer from an ordinary one.
