Kenya Power lists areas scheduled for power blackout on Sunday, November 8
Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi and Nyeri counties on Sunday, November 8, 2026, as technicians carry out maintenance work on the power distribution network.
In a notice shared on Facebook on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the electricity distributor listed the affected areas and informed customers that the interruptions would run for eight hours, from 9 am to 5 pm.
In Nairobi County, the planned maintenance will affect parts of Parklands, including sections of Masari Road, Second Parklands and Third Parklands.
Other affected locations include Baywaters and Doctors Plaza, as well as customers living and operating businesses in neighbouring areas connected to the affected power lines.
Kenya Power advised customers in the listed locations to make arrangements for the temporary loss of electricity during the scheduled maintenance period.
The second county listed in the notice is Nyeri, where the interruption will affect parts of the Gatunguru and Mioro areas.
In Gatunguru, the affected locations include Gatunguru Tea Factory and Kirimahiga, while customers in Mioro will experience the interruption around Mioro Market.
Other affected areas in Nyeri include Kagongo, Magomano, Kihoya, Wanjerere, Thambiri, Kiawambogo, Barara and Nyagatugu Boys.
The maintenance will also affect customers around Mithanga Market, Gachogi Market, Gacharage Market, Mierereni, J.J Kamotho, Kiriti Girls and Kiriti Tea Factory.
Kenya Power further included customers living and operating businesses in neighbouring areas connected to the affected electricity lines.
The company scheduled the maintenance in both counties to begin at 9 am and end at 5 pm, meaning customers in the listed locations should expect to remain without electricity for up to eight hours.
Separately, the utility company urged customers to verify the identities of people claiming to be its employees or contractors before allowing them to access their homes or handle electrical installations. The power distributor is encouraging customers to use its MyPower App to establish whether the individuals they are dealing with are genuine representatives of the company.
In a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the utility firm highlighted its identity verification feature, saying it was designed to give customers confidence when interacting with people carrying out work on its behalf.
βOur easy verification process with MyPower App, gives you peace of mind and builds trust that youβre dealing with our staff or contractors,β Kenya Power stated.
The company explained that the process was quick and straightforward, allowing customers to establish the legitimacy of workers before engaging them. It encouraged consumers to make use of the service as a precaution whenever someone approached them claiming to represent the electricity distributor.
βItβs quick, simple, and gives you certainty. Feel secure na Jua for Sure,β the company added.
