Ikpechukwu: Nobody Should Call Me; Nobody Should Post My Daddy’s Poster – Chiamaka

According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday November 7, 2026, Chiamaka, daughter of late Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu, has cautioned the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) against publishing tributes announcing her father’s death on its social media platforms.

Her warning came hours after reports emerged about the veteran actor’s passing, following his prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness.

DAILY POST reports that Ikpechukwu died on Thursday after losing his fight against the illness, although details surrounding his medical condition have not been made public.

Following the announcement, the Actors Guild of Nigeria shared a mourning post expressing sadness over the actor’s death. However, Chiamaka reacted by requesting that the organisation immediately remove the publication.

In a video addressing the situation, she expressed her displeasure with the guild’s decision to announce her father’s death without allowing the family to make the disclosure themselves.

“Please take down the post. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death,” she said.

Chiamaka also questioned the industry’s attitude towards deceased actors, wondering why members often receive public recognition and expressions of affection only after their passing.

She further appealed to members of the Actors Guild to respect her family’s privacy during the difficult period, insisting that she did not want anyone using her father’s death to publish tributes or promotional materials.

Emphasising her position, she said: “Please, Actors’ Guild, I don’t want you guys posting my daddy. Make nobody post my papa, please. This is a very hard video for me to make. Nobody should call me; nobody should post my daddy’s poster.”

She also made it clear that she was not prepared to receive calls from members of the association following her father’s death.

Her reaction highlights the emotional difficulties confronting families when public announcements about a loved one’s passing emerge before they are personally ready to share the news.

The development has also drawn attention to the importance of respecting bereaved families’ wishes and allowing them to determine how and when information about their loved ones’ deaths becomes public.
