APC Is Obsessed With Peter Obi, They Know Rigging May Not Work In 2027 – Aisha Yesufu
Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) following allegations by Senator Adams Oshiomhole against former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi concerning his tax obligations and alleged offshore investments.
Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District, made the allegations during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday. A recording of the interview subsequently circulated on social media.
During the programme, the former Edo State governor accused Obi of allegedly manipulating financial records to avoid paying taxes and keeping substantial portions of his wealth outside Nigeria.
Oshiomhole claimed that Obi had failed to meet his tax obligations despite having considerable financial resources. The allegations attracted a reaction from Yesufu, a prominent supporter of Obi, who accused the ruling APC of attempting to damage the former presidential candidate’s reputation ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a post shared on her official X account, the activist suggested that the increasing criticism directed at Obi by members of the ruling party demonstrated their concern about his political influence.
Expressing her displeasure, Yesufu wrote, “APC is obsessed with Peter Obi! The way they are all going after him now shows that they have gotten the memo that rigging will not be an option, so they are resorting to smear campaigns!”
Her response has added another dimension to the growing political disagreement between supporters of President Bola Tinubu and those backing Obi as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gradually intensify.
However, the allegations concerning Obi’s tax payments and offshore assets remain claims made by Oshiomhole. The material accompanying the interview did not provide independent evidence establishing the accusations.
