Akwa Ibom, I Love You; I Will Sleep Here Tonight, Have A Presidential Sleep And Dream- Tinubu
According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, November 6, 2026, President Bola Tinubu has taken a swipe at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join another political platform.
Tinubu questioned Atiku’s leadership qualities and ability to govern Nigeria, arguing that his decision to abandon the PDP after experiencing what he described as a minor disagreement raised concerns about his character and commitment.
The president made the remarks on Friday while addressing supporters during his presidential campaign rally in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
He mocked Atiku for leaving the PDP, where he had spent several years building his political career, to establish what he described as a dangerous political camp under the African Democratic Congress.
Tinubu wondered whether someone who could easily abandon a political party after a little inconvenience possessed the patience, loyalty and leadership qualities required to manage Nigeria’s affairs.
He urged Nigerians not to support Atiku’s presidential ambition, insisting that the country needed a leader capable of demonstrating consistency and commitment.
The president also called on residents of Akwa Ibom State to participate actively in the forthcoming 2027 general elections by ensuring they collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Tinubu stressed that voter participation would be important in determining the country’s political future and encouraged the people to use their voting power to support his re-election bid.
He further expressed affection for the people of Akwa Ibom, promising to spend the night in the state after the campaign rally.
He said: “Akwa Ibom, I love you; I will sleep here tonight, have a presidential sleep and dream. Please, I’m begging you, go and collect your PVCs and vote for the sake of your future.”
