Adisadel Alumni Make Powerful Statement At Candlelight Vigil For 15-Year-Old Javits Frimpong

According to a report by Ghbase News on Saturday November 7, 2026, Old students of Adisadel College living in the United States have joined family members, close friends and members of the Ghanaian community to pay tribute to the late 15-year-old Javits Frimpong during an emotional candlelight vigil in New York.

The solemn gathering, held in the Bronx on Thursday, November 5, 2026, brought together several people who came to remember the teenager, express their condolences and demonstrate support for his grieving family following his tragic death.

The vigil provided an opportunity for members of the Ghanaian community and people whose lives had been touched by Javits’ story to unite in remembrance of the young boy.

The atmosphere was filled with sorrow as mourners gathered to honour his memory and stand with his family during the difficult period.

Among those who attended were several former students of Adisadel College, popularly known as Santaclausians.

Their presence carried particular significance because Javits had also attended the prestigious Cape Coast-based institution.

Some of the alumni brought along an Adisadel College uniform, which they held during the gathering as a symbolic tribute to their departed schoolmate.

The gesture reflected the strong bond shared among former students of the institution, regardless of their year group or geographical location.

One of the alumni who attended the vigil, Teddy Nketiah, a member of Adisadel College’s 2001 year group, explained that he felt a personal responsibility to be present after learning about Javits’ death and discovering the teenager’s connection to the school.

Nketiah, who disclosed that he had lived in New York for approximately 25 years, said the news of Javits’ passing and his identity as a fellow Santaclausian made it important for him and other alumni to show up and offer their support.

According to him, the gathering was not simply about mourning the teenager but also about demonstrating that the Adisadel College community stands together, particularly when one of its own is affected by tragedy.

He stressed the importance of showing respect to Javits and his family, noting that the relationship between old students of the institution goes beyond the years spent on campus.

Speaking at the event, Nketiah said: “We have to come and show respect to Javits and his family, and represent. Once a Santaclausian, always a Santaclausian.”

His remarks captured the spirit behind the alumni’s participation in the vigil, highlighting the enduring sense of belonging and solidarity that connects Santaclausians across generations.

The participation of the Adisadel College old students also demonstrated how Javits’ death had touched people beyond his immediate family and circle of friends, drawing support from members of the wider Ghanaian community in the United States.

As mourners gathered with candles and tributes, the message from the alumni was clear: Javits would not be remembered as just another young life lost, but as a member of a school community whose legacy and connections would continue to live on.

The emotional gathering served as a reminder of the importance of standing together in moments of grief, as family members, friends and fellow Santaclausians continue to mourn the untimely death of the 15-year-old.
