Video: Oscar Sudi ensures dancers leave enough room for Charlene and Isaya on the dance floor

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has given Kenyans a glimpse of one of his unexpected responsibilities at the star-studded wedding of Charlene Ruto and Tanzanian technology entrepreneur Isaya Yunge, with a video showing him directing dancers to ensure they did not encroach on the couple’s dancing space.

In the footage, shared on his Facebook page on the evening of Friday, November 6, 2026, Sudi is seen stepping in as a group of women dressed in matching maroon outfits danced to a live performance by a local female artiste.

Charlene and her newlywed husband were at the centre of the lively moment, showing off their dance moves as the singer continued entertaining guests with a local song.

As the women danced enthusiastically, they gradually moved closer to the space occupied by the couple. Sudi, who was dressed in a black suit, then stepped forward and positioned himself in front of the group to guide their movements.

The legislator appeared to gently signal to the women with his hand, indicating that they should not move any further towards the couple but could continue dancing while leaving enough room for Charlene and Yunge to enjoy their moment.

The women continued dancing as the MP helped maintain a clear space around the newlyweds, who remained at the centre of the celebration and appeared fully immersed in the performance.

After ensuring that the dancers had understood his instructions, Sudi walked back towards his previous position before eventually leaving the dance floor. Another man who was also dancing then appeared to take over the responsibility of guiding the crowd and ensuring that the space around the couple remained clear.

Charlene and Yunge exchanged wedding vows on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza, Tanzania, in a lavish ceremony overlooking Lake Victoria.

The wedding brought together prominent political figures, senior government officials, public personalities, friends and relatives from Kenya and Tanzania. It was among the most closely watched family celebrations of the year, given Charlene’s status as the daughter of President William Ruto and Yunge’s background as a Tanzanian technology entrepreneur.

President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto attended the ceremony, with the Head of State taking on the symbolic role of walking his daughter down the aisle as she made her way to marry Yunge.

Charlene looked elegant in a white, long-sleeved lace wedding gown accompanied by a flowing veil, while her groom wore a white double-breasted jacket, black trousers and a bow tie.

The outdoor ceremony featured an elaborate floral arrangement, with a mirrored walkway lined with white flowers leading to a decorated arch where the couple exchanged their vows. A spacious white reception tent, together with clear-roofed sections, formed part of the wedding setting, which offered views of the surrounding lawns and Lake Victoria.

A bishop from the Africa Inland Church Tanzania officiated the ceremony as invited guests watched the couple exchange their vows.

Beyond the formal exchange of vows, traditional dancing became one of the memorable highlights of the celebrations, with Charlene and Yunge joining guests on the dance floor.

The couple showcased traditional Kisukuma dance moves after the ceremony, embracing elements of the groom’s cultural background as they celebrated their union with family and friends.

A female artiste also entertained guests with local music during the reception, providing the soundtrack for the dancing moments captured in videos shared by attendees.

The couple’s wedding followed months of preparations and a series of pre-wedding events, beginning with their traditional Kalenjin Koito ceremony held on August 8, 2026, at President Ruto’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.

Charlene later held a white-and-purple-themed bridal shower in Nairobi on Tuesday, November 3, with cake messages reading ‘Miss Babe to Mrs Babe’ and ‘Hey Mrs Yunge’.

On Wednesday, November 4, First Lady Rachel hosted a Mother’s Blessing prayer gathering attended by Charlene’s aunts and other family elders, who joined in praying for the bride ahead of her wedding.

Charlene had travelled to Mwanza earlier that week, where she was welcomed with traditional dancers, drummers and luxury vehicles as preparations for the celebrations gathered pace.
