DJ Cuppy Opens Up On Why She Abandoned Her Signature Pink Look

According to a report by PUNCH on Friday 6 November 2026; Nigerian disc jockey and billionaire heiress, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has explained why she no longer makes pink the centrepiece of her fashion style.

The entertainer said her decision to move away from the colour was influenced by personal growth and a desire to avoid being identified with a particular colour.

Cuppy made this known during an interview with GQ Poland, in a video shared on X on Friday, while responding to questions about her famous pink appearance.

According to her, although pink had become a significant part of her identity for several years, she believes personal development should allow people to explore different expressions of themselves.

She explained that the colour represented power, confidence, vibrancy and self-expression, qualities she still identifies with despite her changing fashion preferences.

“I was known for the colour pink and it was my identity for so many years, and a lot of people are asking what happened to the pink.

“I want people to understand that actually growth is something that will always come, and I don’t think I should be boxed into a colour.

“Pink for me meant power, vibrancy, expression, unapologeticness, positionality, and that’s still me, but I’m able to express it through other colours as well,” she said.

The DJ also connected her earlier preference for pink to her experience as a woman trying to establish herself in the male-dominated entertainment industry.

She recalled that when she began her career about 17 years ago, wearing pink was a way of embracing her femininity while making her presence felt in the industry.

“When I think about my style, I think about a woman in a male-dominated industry.

“Maybe also when I first started 17 years ago, a young girl that was using pink to represent her femininity and stay in the room,” she explained.

However, Cuppy noted that her experiences over the years have given her the confidence to express her femininity without depending on a particular colour.

She added that she now feels comfortable exploring different colours and fashion choices while retaining the personality and values that defined her earlier style.

“Now that I’ve been through a lot of doors and kicked down some windows, I feel like I can represent my femininity through any colour.

“So my style I would say is vibrant, grounded and ethnical,” she added.
