LASEMA trains officers on AI for real-time emergency response reporting

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has organised a one-day training programme to equip its officers with the knowledge and skills to deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) in emergency management and generate real-time operational reports during response activities.

The training, themed Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Emergency Response, was held on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency, accuracy and response time across the state.

The facilitator, Mr Amao Oluseyi Bamidele, introduced participants to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, explaining its differences from human intelligence and how it can simulate aspects of human reasoning to perform tasks and support decision-making.

He also demonstrated various AI tools for writing, image generation, data analysis and communication, highlighting their practical applications in LASEMA’s daily operations, including report writing, documentation, incident scene analysis and public information management.

Participants were further trained on effective prompt writing, covering both text and image prompts, to enable them to obtain accurate and relevant results from AI applications. The skills are expected to support the generation of real-time operational reports, improve information flow and enhance communication with relevant stakeholders during emergency response activities.

The interactive session also featured a question-and-answer segment, allowing officers to seek clarification on the application of AI tools in their professional responsibilities.

LASEMA reaffirmed its commitment to continuous capacity building and the adoption of modern technology to improve emergency management and ensure prompt, efficient and life-saving responses across Lagos State.

Residents are encouraged to report emergencies through the state’s toll-free numbers 767 and 112.
