As I Am Speaking To You Now, The President Have Asked The EFCC To Go After Me – Ameachi Reveals

In an interview on News Central TV on Friday, November 6, 2026, Rotimi Amaechi, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Transportation, spoke about the alleged investigation involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and his concerns about the actions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Amaechi made the remarks while responding to questions about the political disagreements between him and some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He alleged that the federal government had directed the anti-graft agency to investigate him and contractors who worked with the Ministry of Transportation during his tenure as minister.

According to Amaechi, “As I am speaking to you now, the president have asked the EFCC to go after me.” He made the statement while discussing the reported investigations and questioning the reasons behind the actions involving contractors who handled projects under the Ministry of Transportation.

The former minister explained that several contractors connected to the ministry had allegedly been arrested and detained, adding that the situation had continued for about two years. He maintained that he was not aware of any wrongdoing on his part and questioned what the authorities were seeking to establish through the investigations.

Amaechi also defended his record as Minister of Transportation under the late President Muhammadu Buhari, recalling railway projects undertaken during his tenure. He mentioned the Lagos-Ibadan railway, the Abuja-Kaduna railway, and the Kano-Kaduna railway project, arguing that his administration had made significant efforts to expand railway infrastructure across the country.

He concluded by challenging the Tinubu administration to account for the funds borrowed for transportation projects and explain what had been achieved with the resources allocated to infrastructure development.
