Top NPP Guru Summoned To EOCO – Raymond Archer Drops Bombshell
Raymond Archer, Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office, has reportedly declared that the agency will not abandon its anti-corruption responsibilities because of political criticism or pressure.
A report by Alpha One Ghana TV says Archer has pushed back against complaints from some NPP members regarding investigations into alleged financial misconduct involving former government officials.
According to the report, EOCO has invited several prominent figures from the previous administration to provide information about suspected corruption and financial irregularities. A former minister is reportedly among those invited to answer questions about contracts awarded during his tenure, although the person’s identity has not been made public.
Archer is said to have maintained that the law applies equally to everyone, irrespective of political affiliation. He has also called on political parties to respect the independence of state institutions, noting that officials associated with the NDC were investigated during the previous NPP administration.
The development has attracted different reactions from the two major political camps. Some NDC supporters want the investigations pursued, while NPP supporters have questioned whether political considerations are influencing the process.
Other observers have urged EOCO to remain transparent and impartial, emphasising that being invited for questioning does not amount to a declaration of guilt. They insist that anyone found culpable should face the appropriate legal consequences, while those cleared of wrongdoing should be allowed to go free.
