GCB Bank PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to improving customer experience and promoting healthy lifestyles among customers and stakeholders through a wellness initiative aimed at strengthening its relationship with the public.
The initiative, which formed part of activities to celebrate the bank’s customers and stakeholders, featured the maiden GCB Aerobics Fiesta at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra. It was attended by customers, staff and other stakeholders.
The morning of exercise, health screening and entertainment also marked the grand finale of the bank’s 2026 Customer Service Month, observed under the theme: ‘The Extra Mile.’
Participants took part in aerobics and yoga sessions while enjoying musical performances by DopeNation. The fiesta also offered breast cancer screening, prostate cancer awareness and screening exercises, nutrition consultations and a special children’s playground, making the event family-friendly.
The programme was organised to promote physical fitness and encourage customers to prioritise their health while also celebrating the bank’s achievements and the contributions of its stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Officer of GCB Bank, Ms Cynthia Eyram Ofori-Dwumfuo, indicated that the fiesta was part of efforts to engage customers beyond traditional banking services and build stronger personal relationships with them.
She said the bank recognised the importance of its customers to its growth and success since its establishment in 1953, adding that the initiative provided an opportunity to appreciate their loyalty while encouraging them to take their wellbeing seriously.
Ms Ofori-Dwumfuo noted that GCB Bank was committed to making customer service more comprehensive and responsive, stressing that the bank’s role went beyond operating contact centres to address complaints.
Furthermore, she explained that the bank was also focusing on educating customers about financial fraud and scams while improving access to banking services through digital platforms.
According to her, customers could access services through the bank’s toll-free contact centre, mobile application and other digital channels, including online account opening and loan applications.
She said the bank would continue to strengthen its customer experience strategy in 2027 through improved service delivery, digital innovation and more meaningful engagement with customers.
Ms Ofori-Dwumfuo expressed appreciation to customers, staff, businesses and other stakeholders for their continued support which had contributed to the bank’s growth over the years.
Moreover, she announced that the Aerobics Fiesta would become an annual event, with the next edition scheduled for October 2027.
A student from University of Ghana, Legon, Leticia Owusu, who participated the event commended GCB Bank for organising the fiesta, describing it as an opportunity for customers to interact with the bank beyond the usual banking environment.
She said the combination of aerobics, health screening and entertainment made the programme enjoyable and beneficial, particularly in promoting regular health checks and physical exercise.
