You Cannot Just Answer Royal Fathers By Mouth, Before December, You Will Go With Your SUV cars—Wike

According to a report by Daily Trust on Monday, November 2, 2026, The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the provision of brand-new Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for traditional rulers whose positions were recently upgraded in the territory.

Wike announced the development on Saturday during the Rainbow Coalition Stakeholders Rally and the presentation of candidates for National Assembly elections in Abuja.

The event, organised by the FCT Stakeholders Assembly, was held at the Old Parade Ground and attracted traditional rulers, political leaders, community representatives and other stakeholders.

In a statement issued by Rabi Musa Umar, Deputy Director of Press in the Office of the FCT Minister, the government confirmed that the gathering brought together representatives of the six area councils, youth and women organisations, indigenous communities and political groups.

Speaking at the rally, Wike explained that Tinubu’s approval of the vehicles was intended to demonstrate recognition and respect for the traditional institutions and their responsibilities.

He noted that the elevation of the traditional stools, which had reportedly remained neglected for 27 years, was another demonstration of the President’s commitment to addressing longstanding concerns affecting royal fathers in the FCT.

Emphasising the importance of providing the traditional rulers with appropriate official transportation, Wike said, “You Cannot Just Answer Royal Fathers By Mouth,” adding that their elevated positions should come with the necessary recognition and benefits.

He further assured the royal fathers that they would receive their SUVs before December, explaining that the President did not want them relying on commercial motorcycles or tricycles for transportation.

Meanwhile, participants at the rally endorsed Tinubu for a second term in 2027. They also declared support for Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda for the FCT senatorial seat, John Gabaya for Abuja North and Danladi Chiya for Abuja South.
