Ruto’s 2027 Game Plan Revealed as 10 Governors Emerge as Key Players in His Re-Election Bid

In Kisii, Governor Simba Arati has emerged as another important figure in the changing political relationship between ODM and Ruto’s administration.

Arati has argued that ODM should receive a 50 per cent share of government under a possible 2027 political arrangement, insisting that the party’s contribution should be reflected in senior government positions and other areas of power.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who serves as ODM national chairperson, is also playing a significant role.

She has claimed that nearly the entire Luo Nyanza political leadership supports Ruto’s second-term ambitions.

In Western Kenya, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa is working with Busia Governor Paul Otuoma and Vihiga Governor Wilberforce Ottichilo to build a common political front.

Barasa has maintained that the region should use its voting strength to secure a bigger share of national development and political influence.

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has also been assigned the responsibility of coordinating Ruto’s re-election campaign in the Western region.

Mount Kenya remains another important political battleground.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has repeatedly insisted that the region will not abandon Ruto despite his fallout with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

She has also declared interest in becoming Deputy President in Ruto’s next government.

Waiguru’s team has reportedly assessed the political situation and concluded that 35 counties are already aligned with the president.

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire and Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki are also expected to play important roles in strengthening Ruto’s support in the region, where opposition politics and dissatisfaction with the president could complicate his re-election plans.

Meanwhile, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii remain important political figures in the Rift Valley, a region whose voting strength could significantly influence the presidential contest.

However, Ruto’s plans are facing competition in some areas. Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has joined forces with DAP-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to push for an alternative political front in Western Kenya.

Natembeya has openly rejected the idea that the region should simply settle for the Deputy President position in Ruto’s government, presenting a potential challenge to the president’s efforts to consolidate support in the region.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also retains influence among sections of the Mount Kenya electorate.

However, political analyst Javas Migambo has argued that the opposition remains too divided to pose a serious challenge to Ruto.
