Done Deal: Kaizer Chiefs Finally Secure Elias Mokwana After Reaching Personal Terms

Elias Mokwana Reportedly Agrees To Join Kaizer Chiefs As Naturena Move Nears Completion

JOHANNESBURG – Kaizer Chiefs supporters could soon have another reason to celebrate after fresh reports indicated that Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana is close to joining the Soweto giants following discussions between the player’s representatives and the club.

According to the latest transfer information circulating in South African football, Mokwana has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Amakhosi, with the development first attributed to SoccerBeat. The agreement is said to have been reached on Sunday, 1 November 2026, bringing the winger closer to a possible return to the Betway Premiership.

However, while reports suggest that significant progress has been made, Kaizer Chiefs have not officially announced the signing. The transfer should therefore be regarded as a reported agreement awaiting formal confirmation rather than a completed deal.

The possible arrival of Mokwana would represent an important development for coach Fernando Da Cruz, who has been looking to strengthen his attacking options as Chiefs continue their campaign.

The 27-year-old winger became a familiar name among South African football supporters during his impressive spell at Sekhukhune United. His performances earned him an opportunity to move abroad, where he joined Tunisian giants Espérance de Tunis in 2024.

He subsequently spent time on loan at Saudi Arabian club Al Hazem before parting ways with Espérance in September 2026. His availability as a free agent has made him an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their squads without paying a transfer fee.

A proposed move to Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club was also reported to have collapsed, leaving the South African international available to consider other opportunities.

Kaizer Chiefs were among the clubs linked with the winger after his representatives reportedly presented his name to the Naturena management. Earlier reports indicated that the club was assessing the possibility of bringing him back to South African football.

Former Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune publicly encouraged Amakhosi to consider signing Mokwana, describing him as a skilful attacker capable of taking on defenders, creating opportunities and scoring goals. Former PSL midfielder Mark Haskins also expressed support for the potential signing, believing the winger could add value to the squad.

Mokwana’s experience in domestic and continental football could be valuable for a Chiefs side seeking greater attacking depth. His pace, direct approach and ability to operate in wide attacking positions would provide Da Cruz with another option when selecting his forward line.

The reported agreement has naturally generated excitement among Amakhosi supporters, who will be eager to see whether the club can officially secure the player’s services.

Attention now turns to Naturena, where supporters are waiting for an announcement confirming the next step in the negotiations.
