Cheruiyot Leaves Kenyans Talking After Telling Sifuna to Use Constitution to Cross Poor Kwale Road

Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has sparked reactions online after taking a sarcastic swipe at Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna over complaints about the poor condition of the road leading to Kwale Town.

The exchange began after Sifuna shared his experience while travelling from Kinango towards Kwale Town during the Linda Mwananchi movement’s political tour of the coastal county on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

In a post on X, Sifuna complained about the difficult journey, describing the road as full of potholes and waterlogged sections.

“Barabara kutoka Kinango kuelekea Kwale town ni kuruka vihunzi na maji…lakini tutafika tu Inshallah,” Sifuna wrote, suggesting that motorists had to navigate several obstacles before reaching their destination.

However, his complaint caught the attention of Cheruiyot, who responded with a sarcastic message that quickly became a topic of political discussion.

“Tandika katiba upitie juu,” Cheruiyot wrote, loosely translated as telling Sifuna to spread the Constitution over the road and walk across it.

The remark appeared to mock Sifuna’s strong emphasis on defending Kenya’s 2010 Constitution, which has been a major part of his political message.

The response has brought fresh attention to the relationship between leaders allied to President William Ruto’s administration and opposition figures as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 General Election.

While the two senators exchanged political remarks, the condition of the Kinango-Kwale road remains a concern for motorists and other road users who depend on it for daily transport.

The incident has also raised questions about whether political leaders should give more attention to development concerns affecting ordinary Kenyans.

As the exchange continues to attract attention, Kenyans are left discussing Cheruiyot’s unusual response to what began as a complaint about a public road.
