“Sifuna Won’t Support You,”UDA Tell Kalonzo to Ditch Opposition and Back Ruto After Heckling

Kenya Kwanza leaders have urged Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka to leave the opposition and join President William Ruto after he was heckled at the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement.

The incident happened on Friday, October 30, during the unveiling of the Linda Mwananchi headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, where Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was presented as the party leader and presidential hopeful.

Kalonzo was booed by sections of the crowd after he cautioned against rushing to declare Sifuna as the opposition’s presidential candidate, saying consultations on a single candidate to face Ruto in 2027 were still ongoing.

The heckling has now been seized by Kenya Kwanza leaders as proof that Kalonzo has lost respect within the opposition.

Speaking on Saturday, October 31, in Ngiito, Ilmotiok Ward, Narok County during a women’s empowerment event, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen led the charge.

“I want to tell Kalonzo today that if he thinks what he saw yesterday was something serious, that was just a preview. If you think Sifuna will support you, you are lying,” Murkomen said.

He said he knows Sifuna well from his university days when Sifuna was in his youth wing, and warned that aligning with Sifuna, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was a path of bitterness and embarrassment.

“I am your friend. Please look for a better path if you are seeking leadership. If you want better leadership, join William Samoei Ruto,” he added.

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse said it was shameful to see a veteran like Kalonzo being disrespected: “Yesterday we saw very shameful things. Kalonzo is an elder who deserves to be respected.

These young people are disrespectful, they are showing you they don’t want you. Come and work with us and President William Ruto.”

UDA Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi also weighed in, saying “Kalonzo has been in politics for more than forty years, and he is being told to step down for a young man who just joined politics the other day.”

President Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet and other Kenya Kwanza leaders accused the opposition of lacking a clear presidential candidate and said Ruto was firmly on course for a second term.

The heckling has drawn condemnation even from some opposition sympathisers. Lawyer Donald Kipkorir criticized Sifuna’s supporters, warning that if Sifuna wants to be President he will need allies like Kalonzo across the country.
