Recently, Afeez reacted to a social media post describing him and Mide as one of the most unproblematic couples in the Yoruba movie industry. Responding to the description, the actor showered his wife with affectionate words, calling her his partner, playmate, friend, best friend, backbone, pillar and everything.

He further expressed his willingness to marry her again if given another opportunity in his next life.

During a recent interview, Afeez also spoke about their marriage, which has lasted for more than two decades. He explained that their relationship has been sustained by mutual understanding, stressing that marriage should not be based on a situation where the husband must always be strict or the wife must remain silent. He also appreciated Mide for her patience and understanding.

However, their marriage has not been without challenges. In 2016, rumours of a separation emerged after Mide publicly accused her husband of moving out of their matrimonial home and leaving her with their children.
