Kaizer Chiefs Coach Fernando da Cruz Blasts Referee, Claims Orlando Pirates Played With 12 Men

Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando da Cruz has expressed his frustration with the refereeing decisions during the highly anticipated Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates.

The match, which attracted plenty of attention from football supporters, has continued to generate discussions following the final whistle. However, it appears that da Cruz was particularly unhappy with some of the decisions made by the referee during the encounter.

The Kaizer Chiefs coach did not hide his disappointment when discussing the officiating, suggesting that certain decisions went against his team. In a bold statement, he even claimed that Orlando Pirates appeared to have played with 12 men, a remark that has attracted attention among football fans.

His comment was seemingly aimed at expressing his frustration with how the match was officiated, rather than suggesting that Pirates literally had an extra player on the field.

The Soweto derby is one of the biggest football rivalries in South Africa, with both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates enjoying massive support across the country. Because of the importance of the fixture, refereeing decisions are often closely examined by supporters, especially when controversial moments occur.

For Chiefs supporters, da Cruz’s comments may reflect their own frustrations about certain incidents during the game. Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates fans may have a different view of the match and the decisions made by the match officials.

His strong reaction has added another talking point to an already emotional rivalry between the two Soweto giants.

Although the result on the pitch remains important, discussions about the referee’s performance could continue long after the derby. Da Cruz’s claim that Pirates played with 12 men has certainly given football supporters something to debate.
