“Help Them Join KDF or Police”: Gachagua Accuses Ichung’wah of Sending Youths to Disrupt His Rally

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah to help young people join the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) or the National Police Service instead of allegedly sending them to disrupt political meetings.

Speaking while directly addressing Ichung’wah, Gachagua questioned why young people were allegedly being involved in interfering with political gatherings organised by rival leaders.

He urged the Kikuyu MP to encourage youths to take advantage of recruitment opportunities in the security services, arguing that they should be given opportunities to serve the country rather than being drawn into political confrontations.

“Take the youths to the military just as Ruto has taken his people there. Take the youths to the police just as Ruto has taken his people there. Stop sending young people to disrupt other people’s meetings,” Gachagua said.

His remarks appeared to be a direct message to Ichung’wah, whom he accused of allegedly deploying groups of young people to interfere with political gatherings.

Gachagua further defended the youths who had been mentioned in the accusations, telling those following the exchange, “Wachana na huyo kijana,” meaning they should leave the young man alone.

The former Deputy President maintained that young people should be directed towards opportunities that can improve their lives rather than being involved in activities that create confrontations during political events.

By invoking KDF and police recruitment, Gachagua drew a comparison with President William Ruto, claiming that the Head of State had taken his own people into the security services.

His remarks come amid heightened political exchanges between leaders from different camps, with accusations of interference at political meetings continuing to feature in their public addresses.

However, Gachagua’s allegations against Ichung’wah have not been independently verified, and Ichung’wah’s response to the specific claims was not included in the remarks.
