Goodluck Jonathan, Patience Jonathan, Wale Edun, others attend L.A.X’s wedding celebration in Lagos

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, were among the dignitaries who attended the wedding celebration of Nigerian singer Damilola Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X, and his wife, Emmanuella, in Lagos on Sunday.

The event, held on Victoria Island, also attracted former Minister of Finance Wale Edun, Chief (Mrs.) Bola Obasanjo and former Lagos State First Lady Abimbola Fashola.

Photographs from the celebration showed Jonathan sharing a moment with Edun and other guests at the reception.

The gathering brought together political figures, business personalities and members of the entertainment industry to celebrate the couple.

The Lagos reception followed a series of wedding ceremonies held by the couple in 2026.

L.A.X proposed to Emmanuella on January 16, 2026, before their families held an introduction ceremony in Warri, Delta State, in June.

The couple later held their civil wedding in Naxxar, Malta, on September 16. The singer announced the marriage on Instagram, writing, “Legally hitched to the love of my life, in the most beautiful city, Malta, you have our hearts.”

On October 29, they held their Islamic marriage ceremony, known as Nikkah, to formalise their union under Islamic law.

The ceremony featured prayers, recitation from the Holy Qur’an, thanksgiving, blessings and donations to the mosque. The programme also included a naming ceremony.

L.A.X rose to prominence in 2013 with ‘Caro’, his collaboration with Nigerian singer Wizkid. He later worked with Wizkid on ‘Ginger’ and established his record label, Rasaki Music.
