2026/27 Ghana Premier League Match Report: Samartex sink Goldstars to reclaim second spot after Agyenim Boateng’s winner

FC Samartex returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bibiani Goldstars in their Matchweek 9 encounter of Ghana Premier League at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Budding forward Christian Agyenim Boateng proved to be the difference-maker as he notched the only goal of the match in the 25th minute to hand the Timber Giants all three points in front of their home supporters.

Samartex went into the encounter determined to bounce back after dropping points in their 1-1 draw against Berekum Chelsea last Sunday.

The Samreboi-based club were eager to make home advantage count against a Bibiani Goldstars side that arrived with confidence following an impressive run of results.

The Miners had recorded three successive league victories before their Matchweek 8 encounter, where they secured a 2-1 win over Heart of Lions to strengthen their position in the standings.

However, Samartex showed greater determination on home soil and found the breakthrough through Agyenim Boateng, whose 25th-minute strike proved enough to separate the two sides.

Bibiani Goldstars pushed for an equaliser but could not find a way past the Timber Giants, who held on to protect their slender advantage until the final whistle.

The victory represents a timely boost for Samartex, who climb back to second place in the league standings with 18 points.

Their rise also pushes Hearts of Oak down to third place after the Phobians suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against Debibi United on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Bibiani Goldstars have dropped to 13th position with 10 points following their defeat in Samreboi.
