Prophet Nigel Gaisie Says He Expected Appointment Under Mahama Government
Founder of Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has expressed disappointment over not receiving an appointment in President John Dramani Mahama’s government, saying he expected to be considered for either the Council of State or the position of Minister for Religious Affairs.
According to the outspoken preacher, he believes his education and contributions to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should have earned him recognition when the party returned to power.
Speaking about his expectations, Prophet Gaisie argued that he had made significant contributions to the NDC and questioned why he had not been considered for a government position.
He also compared his contributions to those of Rev. Dr. Stephen Wengam, suggesting that he had done more for the party than the respected religious leader.
The prophet’s comments have drawn attention because they touch on the relationship between religious leaders and political appointments in Ghana. His remarks also raise questions about the expectations some individuals who support political parties may have when those parties form government.
The Council of State is an important constitutional advisory body that assists the President on matters of national importance. A Minister for Religious Affairs, meanwhile, would be expected to engage religious institutions and address issues concerning the religious community.
Prophet Gaisie has not hidden his political affiliation and has previously made public comments about the NDC and its leadership.
His latest remarks are likely to generate discussion among Ghanaians, particularly over whether political contributions should influence appointments and how religious figures should be considered for public office.
