Oburu Thanks Kenyans for Supporting Him While Sick, Reveals Plans to Resume Political Activities
ODM Party Leader Dr Oburu Oginga has reassured supporters that he is recovering well and preparing to resume his political activities after being away from the public limelight due to illness.
In a message delivered through a video played at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday, October 31, Oburu broke his silence, thanking Kenyans and ODM supporters for standing with him during his difficult period.
The veteran politician acknowledged receiving messages of sympathy and goodwill from supporters, saying their concern had encouraged him as he continued his recovery.
āI want to take this opportunity to thank you for having sympathised with me during the time I’ve been sick. I have been sick like any other human being, and I appreciate the concern and support you have shown me,ā Oburu said.
He also used the opportunity to give supporters an assurance that his absence from public engagements would not be permanent, expressing optimism that he would soon return to participate in activities aimed at advancing the country’s development.
āIām soon going to be out with you to do the activities which lead to the development of our country,ā he added.
His message was received at a time when ODM supporters had gathered in large numbers at Jacaranda Grounds to mark the final day of Mwezi wa Baba, a month-long commemoration held in honour of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The video address provided an opportunity for Oburu to communicate directly with party supporters despite his inability to attend the gathering physically.
His assurance of an imminent return is also significant for ODM, which is navigating an important political period following Raila’s death, with questions surrounding the party’s direction and leadership attracting considerable attention.
