NEWS IN: Oburu Speaks To Nairobi Residents Through Phone Call, Issues His Health Update

ODM party leader Oburu Oginga has reached out to supporters attending the party’s major rally at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi, delivering a message through a phone call after missing the Saturday, October 31, 2026, gathering.

The veteran politician used the opportunity to thank party members and Kenyans who had contacted him following news of his recent illness.

Speaking to the crowd over the phone, Oburu acknowledged the support he had received, saying he was grateful to everyone who had wished him well and expressed concern about his health.

He explained that his recovery was progressing gradually, adding that returning to his normal responsibilities would require patience.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for having sympathised with me during the time I have been sick. I have been sick like any other human being,” Oburu said.

The ODM leader further noted that regaining his strength was not an immediate process, pointing out that resuming demanding activities would take time.

“Going out of it goes slowly. It takes time to do the activities which lead to the development of our country,” he added.

His remarks provided an update to party supporters who had gathered at Jacaranda Grounds for the ODM event amid growing public interest in his health.

Oburu also appreciated those who had sent him messages, gifts and other gestures of encouragement during his illness.

His absence from the Nairobi gathering came as ODM continued with its political engagements, bringing together several party figures and supporters.

The phone address allowed the party leader to maintain contact with members despite being unable to attend the event physically.

Oburu’s message also reinforced his assurance that he was working towards recovery, although he indicated that it would take time before he could fully resume his normal duties.
