Meet Sifuna’s Wife Didi Wamukoya, the Highly Educated Lawyer With a Rich Professional Background
As Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna continues to attract attention over his political activities ahead of the 2027 General Election, details about his wife, Didi Wamukoya Watenya, have also emerged.
Didi is a trained lawyer who has built an impressive career in environmental law, wildlife protection and public service.
According to information about her professional background, she holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Master of Environmental Law from the University of Nairobi. She also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
She was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 2007.
Before joining the wildlife sector, Didi worked as a Parliamentary Assistant to former Cabinet Minister Noah Wekesa. She later joined the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), where she served as an investigation officer and rose to become Head of Prosecution.
Her work involved handling wildlife-related cases and strengthening the fight against illegal wildlife activities.
Didi later joined the African Wildlife Foundation, where she took up leadership responsibilities in wildlife law enforcement and countering wildlife trafficking.
She has also contributed to legal research and is among the authors of a book titled Natural Resources and Environmental Justice in Kenya, published in 2015.
Unlike her husband, who has become a familiar face in Kenya’s political debates, Didi generally maintains a low public profile.
Her background has attracted renewed interest as Sifuna takes a more prominent role in opposition politics. On October 30, the senator presided over the unveiling of the Linda Mwananchi political party, marking another major step in his political journey towards 2027.
Didi’s professional journey shows that she has built her own career away from the political spotlight.
