Louis Lamis Blames Hunger As The Major Cause Of Hookups For Many Women
According to a report by UTV Ghana today being Saturday, October 31, 2026, Louis Lamis has attributed the increasing involvement of some women in hookup arrangements to poverty and the struggle to meet their basic needs, arguing that hunger remains one of the major factors influencing such decisions.
He explained that financial hardship has placed many women in difficult situations, with some allegedly turning to sexual relationships in exchange for money as a means of surviving and improving their living conditions.
According to Lamis, the inability to afford basic necessities has made some women dependent on financially comfortable individuals who provide them with money and other material benefits. He suggested that for women experiencing extreme poverty, engaging in hookups may appear to be one of the available options for escaping their financial difficulties.
His remarks highlight the relationship between economic conditions and certain social behaviours, particularly among individuals struggling with unemployment, limited financial opportunities and the increasing cost of living.
Lamis’ position also draws attention to the challenges facing women who lack stable sources of income and are unable to support themselves financially. The situation, according to the argument, reflects broader economic problems that require attention rather than focusing solely on the actions of individuals.
The comments have also raised important questions about the need for policies and interventions that can improve economic opportunities for vulnerable women. Providing access to decent employment, vocational training, financial assistance and other support systems could help reduce economic dependence and give more women the opportunity to make independent decisions about their lives.
However, while poverty can influence people’s circumstances, it is important to recognise that women have different reasons for engaging in hookups, and financial hardship should not be assumed to be the motivation in every case.
