Ghanaian Officials Visit Father Of Teenager Who Died In New York Tragedy

Ghana’s government has reached out to the family of 15-year-old Javits Frimpong following the teenager’s death in a tragedy in New York, with officials from the country’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations visiting his bereaved father.

The delegation met Thomas Frimpong to express condolences and assure him that the family would not be left without support during the difficult period.

Among those who took part in the visit were Ghana’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ben Dotsei Malor, Consul General Anthony El-Adas and Vice Consul-General Mawuli Klu.

Their visit was intended to show solidarity with the grieving father and communicate the government’s concern following the loss of his son.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also joined the engagement through a telephone conversation with Mr Frimpong. During the call, the minister conveyed his concern and assured the father of the Ghanaian government’s support.

The outreach was disclosed by Ghana’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in a post shared on X. According to the mission, the officials reaffirmed their commitment to standing with the family as they navigate the painful experience.

The diplomatic engagement highlights the role of Ghanaian officials abroad in supporting citizens and their relatives during difficult circumstances, particularly when a tragedy occurs outside the country.

For Thomas Frimpong, the loss of his 15-year-old son is a deeply personal tragedy. The presence of the Ghanaian delegation and the minister’s phone call were intended to reassure him that the family has the attention and support of the authorities.

Although the circumstances surrounding Javits Frimpong’s death were not detailed in the mission’s announcement, the visit marked an official expression of sympathy from Ghana’s diplomatic representatives in the United States.

The government’s assurance of support comes as the bereaved family faces the difficult days following the teenager’s demise. Through the visit and direct contact from the Foreign Affairs Minister, Ghanaian officials have sought to demonstrate solidarity with the family during its period of mourning.
