Afenyo-Markin Shares Rare Childhood Photo, Ghanaians React

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has set social media buzzing after sharing a rare childhood photo on his official Facebook page. He posted it on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The photo shows a young boy in an orange shirt and blue shorts. He stands beside a wooden display box placed on a small wooden table. The setting looks like a roadside, and the boy appears to be selling items from the box. He wore a gentle smile as he posed for the camera.

Alongside the photo, the Effutu Member of Parliament wrote a short but powerful message: “GIVE TIME SOME TIME!!” Many Ghanaians understood it as a reminder that patience, hard work and faith can change a person’s story.

Within minutes, the post attracted many comments from his followers. Most of them praised his journey from a humble beginning to national leadership. One user, Nana Yeboah Tomfour, described it as “a humble beginning, a fulfilled future.” Another follower, Linda Aidoo, told him, “You will go far, Hon.” Richard Ayimoro also wrote, “We have come far.”

Several people said the photo inspired them. Daniel Oppong Kyekyeku called it “very inspiring,” while Hero Gh encouraged others to never give up. Some followers gave the glory to God. Foli Cudjoe wrote that God is the lifter of men, and Enoch Asiedu praised the Most High God.

His constituents also showed their pride. Joseph Eduafo called him the greatest MP of Effutu of all time. Others addressed him as “Our Leader” and wished him more success in the future.

A few commenters added humour. One user, Kwesi Danquah, joked that “tomorrow is pregnant indeed,” while another said the face never changes.

Overall, the post has touched many hearts. It reminds Ghanaians that success often begins in humble places, and that no one should despise small beginnings.
