Praising Shatta Wale Doesn’t Automatically Mean Attacking Stoneboy, —Bongo
Ghanaian social commentator Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as Bongo Ideas, has questioned dancehall musician Stonebwoy’s reaction to remarks made by Kwabena Bobbie, arguing that expressing a different opinion should not automatically be interpreted as disrespect.
In a Facebook post published on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Bongo Ideas challenged Stonebwoy to clarify what he considered offensive about Bobbie’s comments. He maintained that individuals should be free to express their opinions, even when their views differ from those of celebrities they admire.
According to the commentator, disagreement is a normal aspect of public discussions and should not automatically be treated as an insult. He argued that while Stonebwoy is entitled to challenge opinions he disagrees with, it is important to distinguish between criticism and deliberate disrespect.
Bongo Ideas also addressed the comparison between Stonebwoy and fellow dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, insisting that appreciating one musician does not necessarily mean attempting to discredit another.
“Praising Shatta Wale doesn’t automatically mean attacking Stonebwoy,” he stated, stressing that music fans should be allowed to support their preferred artistes without being accused of disrespecting others in the industry.
The social commentator further noted that public figures are regularly exposed to different opinions, some of which may not favour their personal views or expectations. He suggested that celebrities should understand that criticism is part of public life and does not always amount to a personal attack.
Bongo Ideas maintained that recognising this distinction could help prevent unnecessary disagreements between entertainers and individuals who comment on their activities.
“Not every opinion is an attack,” he added, reinforcing his position that differing perspectives should not automatically be equated with disrespect.
His remarks have drawn attention to the disagreement involving Stonebwoy and Kwabena Bobbie, while highlighting the broader debate about freedom of expression, celebrity reactions and comparisons between musicians in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
