Stonebwoy Explains Why He Refused to Insult Presenter After Character Attack

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has responded sharply to radio presenter Kwabena Bobie after taking issue with comments comparing his character with that of fellow musician Shatta Wale.

The disagreement followed a video in which Bobie expressed his preference for Shatta Wale, saying he would choose him over Stonebwoy based on their personalities.

According to the presenter, Shatta Wale is someone who readily expresses his feelings or speaks out when displeased, while Stonebwoy tends to keep his emotions to himself.

Stonebwoy took issue with the description, arguing that the presenter could have stated his personal preference without making comments he considered an attack on his character and public image.

In a post on X on October 28, 2026, the musician said the remarks were unnecessary and used his response to challenge the suggestion that he does not speak up when issues arise.

“See how this man disrespectfully describes me for no reason. This reply is evidence that I can reply to anyone, anytime and anywhere, instantly — just as I am doing now,” Stonebwoy wrote.

The BHIM President also rejected the claim that he harbours anger or keeps resentment within himself. He maintained that he speaks when he considers it necessary rather than responding according to other people’s expectations.

“I hold nothing in my heart. I speak when I choose to, not when others expect me to,” he stated.

Stonebwoy further argued that music fans and commentators are entitled to support whichever artiste they prefer. However, he said that expressing admiration for one musician should not require making another appear unpopular.

The musician added that he could have responded with insults but chose not to, citing respect for older people as part of his decision.

“I could have rained insults on you for attacking my character, like your fav, but it is unnecessary. I chose to be wise; I have uncles your age whom I respect,” he said.

He explained that his response was also intended to challenge what he viewed as the glorification of conduct that undermines the country’s moral standards.

The exchange has renewed attention on the public rivalry and comparisons involving Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, two prominent figures in Ghanaian dancehall. While listeners may differ in their personal preferences, Stonebwoy’s response centres on the distinction between choosing a favourite artiste and making negative judgments about another performer’s character.
