Reactions As Paul Yandoh Says, He Will Report Mahama To Ghana Jollof Over “Ignorant” Remark

Reactions continue to emerge from Ghanaians following comments made by Paul Yandoh, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who recently contested for the position of Ashanti Regional Secretary.

The controversy began when Yandoh questioned the involvement of military engineers working as subcontractors on the ongoing Kumasi–Accra Expressway project. He raised concerns about whether military personnel are ordinarily involved in road construction. President John Dramani Mahama subsequently described the position as ignorant during a recent engagement with the media, although he did not mention Yandoh by name.

Responding to the president’s remarks, Yandoh appeared on Owia TV, a Kumasi-based media outlet near the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region. In the interview, which was shared on Facebook, he said he would report Mahama to “Ghana Jollof” over what he considered an ignorant comment. His statement has since attracted considerable attention and sparked discussions across social media.

The exchange has also brought Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene into the conversation, as his name was referenced in connection with the ongoing debate.

Public reactions to the development have been mixed. Some social media users have commended Yandoh for his communication skills, describing him as an articulate speaker who can address important national issues without resorting to personal insults. Others have treated the exchange as a source of amusement, while some have shifted their attention to broader concerns surrounding compensation for people affected by the expressway’s construction and other issues related to the project.

The controversy has therefore generated a combination of humour, political debate and public discussion about leadership, political communication and the ongoing Kumasi–Accra Expressway project.
