“They Planned To Poison Chairman Wontumi” — Aide Reveals Alleged Threat At Nsawam Prison

According to a Post by Ghbase on Facebook account on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Fresh reports from Nsawam Prison indicate that five inmates have allegedly been involved in a plan to poison detained former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly called Chairman Wontumi. The development has reportedly prompted prison officials to separate the suspects from other inmates while investigations continue.

Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, an aide to the politician, disclosed the information during an interview on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. According to him, the alleged plan came to light after an individual overheard the suspects discussing how they intended to harm Wontumi and alerted the appropriate authorities.

Dr Boakye-Danquah explained that he first heard about the matter from Wontumi himself while checking on his wellbeing following the politician’s appearance in court on Tuesday, October 27.

Concerned about the information, the aide said he immediately reached out to the officer in charge of Nsawam Prison to establish the facts. The official reportedly confirmed the incident and explained that steps had been taken to investigate the matter.

He added that a special committee had been formed to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged plan and determine what actually happened.

The five inmates suspected of participating in the discussions have reportedly been transferred to another cell as part of the measures taken by prison authorities. However, Dr Boakye-Danquah stated that he did not know the identities of the individuals allegedly involved.

Despite the reported security concern, the aide maintained that Wontumi remained composed and was not intimidated by the situation.

He expressed faith that the alleged plan would not succeed, adding that he believed God would protect the politician from any harm.
