The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has clarified that the adjusted payment schedule for November 2026 is a strictly one-off arrangement applicable only to this month.
Sassa revised the November payment dates to accommodate the municipal local government elections on November 4.
The revised November 2026 payment schedule is as follows:
Sassa emphasised that these dates apply exclusively to November 2026 and do not represent permanent changes to the standard social grant payment schedule. The agency confirmed that grant payment dates from December 2026 through March 2027 remain unchanged.
“These dates will continue to apply until a new payment schedule for the 2027/28 financial year is announced through the agency’s official communication platforms,” Sassa stated.
“Beneficiaries are urged to rely on official Sassa communication channels for accurate information and to avoid being misled by unverified messages or speculation regarding changes to payment dates.”
Beneficiaries who do not receive their grants by November 5 are urged to contact their nearest Sassa office, as their payments may have been suspended due to failure to conduct a review.
Sassa called on all recipients who have received review notifications to respond promptly, warning that failure to comply with the review process will result in grant suspensions.
“Sassa is making an emphatic call to beneficiaries who receive notifications requesting them to present themselves for a grant review [and] not to ignore such notices.
“Reviews are an essential part of the agency’s efforts to safeguard the integrity of the social assistance system, ensure that grants are paid to qualifying individuals, and prevent irregular or fraudulent payments. Beneficiaries have a responsibility to respond to review requests and provide the required information and supporting documentation within the specified period.”
Beneficiaries are advised to proactively monitor their grant status using Sassa’s self-service WhatsApp line by sending a message saying “Hi” to 082-601-0111 to check if their grant is under review and access other digital services, including eLife Certification and new grant applications.
“This offers beneficiaries a convenient way to obtain information and access services without necessarily having to visit a Sassa office,” the agency said.
“Sassa encourages beneficiaries to make use of this service regularly, particularly when they are uncertain about the status of their grants or whether further action is required from them.”
Beneficiaries are reminded to notify Sassa immediately of any personal or financial changes, such as updates to marital status, income or contact numbers.
“Beneficiaries who change their cellphone numbers without updating their details with Sassa risk missing important notifications and may consequently fail to respond to requests requiring their attention.
“Such situations can easily be avoided by ensuring that the information held on Sassa’s database remains accurate and current.”
