The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast morning and afternoon rainfall in several counties on Friday, October 30, with some areas expected to experience light to moderate showers and thunderstorms.

According to KMD’s daily weather forecast issued on Thursday evening, Taita Taveta, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Tharaka-Nithi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado, Bomet, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nairobi are among the counties likely to experience rain during both periods, although the intensity and likelihood will vary.

In the morning, light rains are expected in Taita Taveta, Garissa, Mandera, Tharaka-Nithi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kajiado and several other counties. Wajir, Marsabit, Nakuru, Narok, Bomet, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nairobi may also receive light rainfall in a few places, with sunny intervals expected in some areas.

Other counties forecast to receive morning showers include Isiolo, Meru, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kirinyaga, Murang’a and Kiambu.

The afternoon forecast indicates an increased likelihood of showers and thunderstorms in several parts of the country.

Moderate showers and thunderstorms are expected in Trans Nzoia, Nandi, Narok, Bomet, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kisumu and Nyamira. Nyandarua, Nyeri and Taita Taveta are forecast to receive light to moderate showers and thunderstorms in a few places.

Kericho, Kakamega, Busia, Siaya, Homa Bay and Migori may also experience light to moderate showers and thunderstorms. Light showers and thunderstorms are expected in Nairobi, Nakuru, Kajiado, Tharaka-Nithi, Wajir, Uasin Gishu and other counties.

In the northeastern region, Garissa, Mandera and Marsabit may experience afternoon showers and thunderstorms, while sunny intervals are also expected. West Pokot is forecast to have sunny intervals alongside possible showers and thunderstorms.

Along the Coast, Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi are expected to experience sunny intervals, although light showers may occur in a few places in Mombasa and Kwale during the afternoon.

Tana River is also forecast to have sunny intervals, with a chance of light showers in a few places. Lamu may experience light afternoon showers alongside sunny intervals.
